The Artists + Designers + Photographers _ #2
Using their talents to render and communicate visually, this is how they see it.
Peter Himpel
“A really simple (but hopefully strong enough) artwork: Everything is totally clear, except the "for all". We all know why. And we all have to change this.”

Mimmo Manes
“Rights as coarse paper? Nations and powerful men trumple upon the rigths, the paper, the idea, the man. Each day. But the paper, best: the Paper, are living pieces of mankind which hopes and struggles, for ever.”

Tracey Rosenberg
“When people hear the term human rights, I think they forget about those who have been violated by the cruel act of capital punishment.
To quote Amnesty International:
\"The death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading
punishment. It violates the right to life. It is irrevocable and can be
inflicted on the innocent. It has never been shown to deter crime more
effectively than other punishments.\"
My poster highlights the heinous act of executing juveniles. The image of the boy and the electric chair are juxtaposed with the U.S. Constitution in the background.”

Roe Bianculli-Taylor
“Article 4: No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Article 9: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.
All of these things go on every day. They're happening right now, as you read this. Right. Now.
These things injure and kill individuals. They also damage the spirit of communities, of nations, and of the world. They are the ties that enslave all.
There are two solutions to release the cords that bind: cut, with the possibility of injury, or untie, with the possibility that they could be tied again. Both are potentially dangerous choices -- but the third choice, to stay bound, is the most dangerous of all.
To move foward, to free ourselves and others, we must make a choice.”

Sam Gilbey
“Hopefully these images speak for themselves, and if I had anything particularly eloquent to write about Human Rights Issues, then writing about them is what I would do.
But suffice to say these images deal with an awareness of the irony that enables me to contribute creatively to this project in the first place. As much as anything they are a note to self - a reminder not to only think about these issues one day a year, just because I can.”

Sam Gilbey
“Hopefully these images speak for themselves... idem”

Pablo Astudillo
“This is a short view from Chile, where we are passing from a bloody dictatorship to a government where, again, a basic right as Justice, is being stamped.”
