Using their talents to render and communicate visually, this is how they see it.

Susannah Huntington

“My inspiration behind this work was the main human rights issue that has been in my mind here in Australia; that is the current governments policy towards refugees and immigration, in particular the detainment of refugees and their children.

I believe that it is an unnecessary extreme, and displays the amnesia we have in our culture. Why do we express hostility towards boat-people and immigrants when we were all boat people once?

We need to globalise our views on human rights. We accept globalisation in other facets of our lives, yet we don't accept the flow of people into our communities.”

“Worldwide human rights abuse has been overlooked for far too long. Don't let your conscience be soothed by the act of simply viewing these images -- allow them to move you to action!”

“It seems that a lot of people in this world go on with their daily life going with the flow of things, letting everything happen as it may, and not speaking out on any issues. The more people that do this the more we will become controlled, and the more rules will be layed upon us.

We're letting a government consisting of a small number of men and even smaller number of women decide our fate. The weight of the world is on each and every one of us, yet no one seems to want to bear the weight. As much as it is, we can achieve anything with numbers. It's time to do something about it.

Do something in your community or on the web. If you are angry at the way something is working, then get up...stand up...stand up for your right to speak out against it. Don't just sit there, do something. It's time. I need to take my own advice. I will, with the web and my art as my tool. What will yours be? Your voice, your art, your music? Choose anything you want, it's your human right!”
